Another personal, just for fun project. This one started as a Figma learning exercise.
The Big Idea
Of course it will never happen, but the idea is a system that can maintain and access all the different services you are subscribed to. If you’re like me, you are constantly swapping back and forth between streaming services. Worse yet, some things you want to watch (I’m looking at you, Yellowstone) are actually spread across multiple services. So a service that tracks what you’re watching, and can suggest next watches, no matter which service they are on.
Post Script
It’s been a few years since I explored this project, and since then, Apple TV and Roku (among others) have tried something similar. Of course these are driven more by paid partnerships and less by actual watch algorithms. Interesting that the idea was ahead of its time. I think my interface is more content forward than the ATV or Roku interfaces.
The Point
The main goal here is to exercise Figma since Sketch was my day-to-day back then. Using Figma Jam for the quick concept map then putting together a web mock also in Figma. Next step would be to do a TV/Device mock as well as a mobile mock and then some user testing. I’m interested in exploring the search/discovery workflow a bit more, as that’s another pain point I experience with streaming services.
